To pay in person, bring the violation notice to Simla Town Hall, 323 Pueblo Ave, Simla Colorado 80835, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm. Town Hall is closed most major holidays. The Town calendar can be seen here.

Please note: The Town will NEVER call or text you about a photo radar payment, unless you call us and we are returning your call.

How to Contest a Citation

If you believe a citation was issued in error, you may contest it by following the instructions on the ticket and request a hearing within 45 days of the incident. You can file your contest here.

Contesting your ticket typically involves attending a hearing to present your case. Contests will result in the addition of a $35.00 court cost.

Program Information

In an effort to improve public safety the Town of Simla has implemented a photo radar speed enforcement program on Highway 24 corridor that lies within the Town of Simla. Speed photo radar promotes safer driving habits, creates better pedestrian conditions and increases traffic enforcement on Highway 24 within the Town of Simla. The program will allow the Police Department to focus on having a presence in the school zone and areas of Town with higher foot traffic as well as patrolling and responding to calls.

The speed limit along the Highway 24 corridor within the Town of Simla is 35mph. Speeding along Highway 24 is a danger to the community. Traffic studies conducted show that speeding is both a chronic problem and often extremely excessive.

Citations will be given for speeding eastbound on Highway 24 near Ute Ave.

Program Timeline

  • Ordinance 350 adding a new chapter 6 to Title 5 of the Simla Town code establishing an automated vehicle identification system was approved by the Simla Board of Trustees at the August 12, 2025, meeting. Aye 4 Nay 0 Absent 2

  • Official Notification of the photo radar speed implementation:

    • Published in the August 21, 2025 publication of the Ranchland News
    • Posted on the Town of Simla’s website, August 13, 2025 under Public Notices. Notice will remain on Town website 30 days from implantation of program.
    • Posted on electronic bulletin board at Town Hall, August 13, 2025 under Public Notices. Notice will remain on electronic bulletin board 30 days from implantation of program.
    • Physical sign over 300 feet in front of the photo radar camera, in accordance with state statute, October 1st, 2025.
  • Warnings will be issued October 1st, 2025 - November 1st, 2025.

  • Citations will be issued beginning November 2nd, 2025.

Automated Vehicle Ticketing Program Data Schedule

The Town of Simla is committed to regularly sharing information related to the Automated Vehicle Ticketing Program. This information includes, number of citations crash data, revenue generated, and use of the revenue.

The Town will post this information on a biannual basis, with the following anticipated publication dates for the next 3 years. Publication dates and data date ranges will be updated as needed.

What can I do if my ticket is not coming up when I enter the information to pay online?

  • The citation number is the number that appears on your ticket as the “violation” number.
  • Please enter BOTH the citation number and your license plate number.
  • Do not enter the letter of your license plate that indicate the name of the state that issued your registration.
  • For the citation/violation number, please enter the letters and the numbers
