Town of Simla Brush Pile Guidelines
The Town of Simla Brush Pile is a service provided for Town of Simla residents to dispose of tree limbs, branches, and seasonal pruning debris from trees and shrubs located within the Town of Simla.
This service is intended to assist residents with routine property maintenance. Brush, limbs, and yard debris generated from properties outside Town limits are not permitted and must be disposed of at an approved facility elsewhere. The brush pile is not available for commercial use or for materials transported from outside the community.
Using the Brush Pile
To help maximize available space and maintain safe access for all users, please drive all the way to the back edge of the brush pile when unloading debris.
Accepted Materials
The brush pile is for:
- Tree limbs and branches
- Brush
- Seasonal pruning debris from trees and shrubs
Prohibited Materials
The brush pile is not a trash disposal site. The following materials are strictly prohibited:
- Shingles
- Tires
- Metal
- Pallets
- Railroad ties
- Lumber or treated wood
- Wood containing nails, screws, or other hardware
- Construction or demolition debris
- Furniture
- Household trash or unwanted items
Improper disposal of these materials can result in violations of state and federal air quality regulations and may lead to fines, loss of the Town’s burn permit, and closure of the brush pile.
Enforcement
The Town of Simla Brush Pile is monitored by security cameras. Individuals found disposing of prohibited materials or otherwise violating brush pile regulations may be subject to enforcement action by the Simla Police Department, including citations and fines of up to $750.
Annual Clean-Up Day
The Town of Simla recognizes that residents may occasionally need to dispose of items that are not accepted at the brush pile. To assist residents, the Town hosts an Annual Clean-Up Day each year, during which dumpster services are provided for approved materials.
Details regarding accepted items, recycling fees, and prohibited materials will be announced on the Town website prior to the event.
