Cemetery
Town of Simla cemetery is governed by Title 6, Chapter 2 of the Municipal Code.
Overview of Fees and Charges:
Cost of cemetery lot (1grave):
- Simla Resident: $300.00
- Non-Resident: $800.00
Burial Opening & Closing:
- Casket: $300.00
- Cremation: $150.00
Perpetual Care:
- At lot purchase: $50.00
- Before internment: $50.00
Additional Fees:
- For openings and closings on Saturday s or holidays: $150
- Services after 3:00 pm on weekdays: $150.00

The cemetery is created by blocks 1-8, blocks are divided in lots, 1-60, lots are divided in half sections, East and West, the half sections are divided into thirds, north, central, south.
- Example Block 1, Lot 32, East half, North third.
Available lots are those not blocked out in red. Availability may be the total lot or partial please contact Town Hall for more information on a specific lot. Town Hall may be contacted by phone at 719-541-2468 or in person at 323 Pueblo Ave, Simla, CO 80835.
The Town will not be selling lots showing available in Blocks 1, 2, 3 ,4 as they are not reachable with equipment.
Maintenance Responsibilities:
The town takes care of the upkeep and maintenance of all roads, pathways, grass, shrubbery, improvements and general grounds of the cemetery. Local organizations choose to support the community by volunteering time and attention annually and/or in preparation for Memorial Day.
- Individual lot owners are responsible for maintaining all monuments, markers erected and for complying with the regulations pertaining to monuments, markers and decoration of sites.
GRAVE MARKER OR HEADSTONE
Common grave markers, in a style approved by the Town shall be placed at the foot of each grave site by authorized personnel, identifying the remains by name, date of birth, and date of death. The cost shall be borne by the person arranging for internment. A grave marker shall not be required if arrangements have been made, before internment for the purchase and placement of a headstone. Only markers made of marble, granite or bronze are permitted.
To facilitate the maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery, the following rules apply:
DECORATIONS:
Flowers or other embellishments shall be removed when they become frayed or impede maintenance and mowing of the grave site.
PROHIBITED DECORATIONS:
Fences, concrete borders, mounts or dirt, crushed rock, artificial turf, shrubs, rocks, vases, or statues.
NO GLASS CONTAINERS ARE ALLOWED IN THE CEMETERY!
