Animal Licensing
Municipal Code
- Municipal Code 4-1A-2 requires all dogs to be licensed with the town and must provide current proof of Rabies vaccination in order to receive annual license tag.
- Dog licenses must be purchased/renewed by March 31st of each year. New residents have 30 days to register their dogs.
Licensing Fees
- Fees are Structured based on spayed/neutered status
- Spayed/Neutered – $15
- Un-spayed/Un-neutered – $25
Fine for Non-Compliance
- A fine of $45 is assessed after March 31st for any failure to meet dog licensing requirements.

Animal Control
Certain animals are prohibited in the Town limits. Livestock and fowl shall be unlawful for any citizen, property owner, or any person or persons residing or situate din the Town at any to board, harbor, or keep any species of livestock or fowl within the corporate limits of the Town.
Definitions:
- Fowl: Including, but not limited to chickens, geese, ducks, turkeys, pheasant, quail and the offspring thereof.
- Livestock: Including, but not limited to horses, mules, donkeys, burros, cattle, sheep, goats, and the offspring thereof.
Exceptions: Livestock as defined here in, will be allowed on parcels of land one acre or more in size. Rabbits, and/or fowl, other than roosters, may be kept on parcels of any size; provided. that the keeping of said livestock, rabbits, and/or fowl does not create any of the following:
- Any unsightly, distasteful, or aesthetically unpleasing setting as defined by the normal sensibilities of the residents of the Town.
- Any unhealthily, odorous, insect or vermin producing setting, so as to threaten the health, welfare and enjoyment of the property by other residents of the Town.
- The numbers of livestock, rabbis and/or fowl located on the parcels shall not exceed, in number, limits set by the Town deemed to be reasonable for the size of the parcel in question. Said limits shall be determined after considering all relevant factors, on a case-by-case basis.
Any citizen whose property meets the conditions for exemption listed above may come before the Board of Trustees to get authorization to keep livestock, rabbits, and/or fowl.
Citizens may file a complaint with the Board of Trustees, if any particular animal or fowl is a usance through noise.

Cats
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to keep mor than four (4) cats within the town limits of Simla. with the exception that a litter of cats, or a portion of any such litter, may be kept for a period of time not exceeding three (3) months from birth.
