NOTICE OF A PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE TRUSTEES OF 

THE TOWN OF SIMLA, ELBERT COUNTY, COLORADO, 

CONCERNING A REQUEST FOR VARIANCE 

 Pursuant to the laws of Colorado and the ordinances of the Town of Simla, Colorado, a request of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Simla, Colorado: THE AUTHORITY TO GRANT VARIANCES, the undersigned applicant hereby requests a variance from code 7-3-3-D, which states:  

 D.   Principal Buildings Limited: There shall be no more than one principal building with or without accessory buildings per single lot whether or not the building is being used for residential or commercial purposes. Additional temporary buildings may be allowed, by written permit, for up to three (3) months on lots used for commercial purposes for the purpose of construction or other activities associated with the construction taking place on the lot, or lots. The temporary building exception shall not be available to lots used for residential purposes as it is the intent of this Code that there be no more than one dwelling per lot. However, a lot with a residential building located on it, at the consent of the owner, may allow a temporary dwelling, such as a trailer or recreational vehicle, to be located upon the lot for temporary housing of the owner’s family or friends provided that a temporary dwelling is not located on the parcel for more than two (2) weeks per year. Temporary buildings must still be in compliance with the minimum lot area and setbacks set forth in this Code. (Ord. 301, 4-14-2015) 

The applicant seeks relief from the provision limiting the use of a recreational vehicle (RV) as a temporary dwelling to fourteen (14) days, and requests approval to allow extended temporary occupancy of an RV on the property. 

A public hearing will be held concerning this matter, and the Applicant, Doug & Linda Glidden, shall appear before the Town of Simla Board of Trustees on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 7:00 pm, at the Town Hall Board Room, 323 Pueblo Ave, Simla, CO 80835.  

At said time and place, any interested person may appear to be heard wither for or against the issuance of said variance. Petitions, remonstrances and other reports of statements in writing shall be filed with the Town Clerk, Simla Town Hall, 323 Pueblo Ave, Simla, Colorado 80835, before four o’clock pm (4:00 pm), Friday, June 5, 2026.
